Salvation is the most important decision a person can ever make. It’s about your eternal future and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The good news is—God has made the way to be saved very simple and available to everyone!
Here’s what the Bible teaches about how to be saved:
1. Realize You Are a Sinner
The Bible says in Romans 3:23 (KJV),
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
We have all done wrong. Sin separates us from God, and no one is good enough to earn their way to Heaven.
2. Understand the Penalty of Sin
In Romans 6:23 (KJV), the Bible says,
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Sin brings death—not just physical death, but eternal separation from God in Hell. But there is hope! God offers the gift of eternal life through Jesus.
3. Believe Jesus Died for You and Rose Again
Jesus paid the price for your sins.
Romans 5:8 (KJV) says,
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus took the punishment for your sins on the cross. Three days later, He rose from the dead, proving He has power over sin and death!
4. Call on Jesus and Receive Him by Faith
Salvation is not about doing good works. It’s about trusting in what Jesus has already done for you.
Romans 10:9 (KJV) says,
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
And verse 13 says,
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
5. Pray and Ask Jesus to Save You
You can pray something like this from your heart:
“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and I need You. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again. Please forgive me, come into my heart, and save me. I trust You alone for my salvation. Thank You for loving me. Amen.”
It’s not the words that save you—it’s your faith in Jesus.
Now What?
If you’ve trusted Jesus as your Savior:
- Read the Bible daily (start in the book of John)
- Pray and talk to God regularly
- Find a Bible-believing church where you can grow and worship
- Tell others what Jesus has done for you
Salvation is just the beginning of a new life with Jesus!
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
—2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
If you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus, rejoice! Heaven celebrates with you—and you are now a child of God.
