Edification simply means building someone up in their faith. In the Christian life, it’s about helping one another grow stronger in Christ through encouragement, truth, and love. When believers speak, teach, or act in ways that point others to Jesus, they are edifying the body of Christ.
The Bible encourages this kind of spiritual building up:
“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing” (1 Thessalonians 5:11, NLT).
Edification happens in many everyday ways—sharing Scripture, offering wise counsel, correcting with gentleness, praying together, or even just speaking words that give hope. Anything that strengthens faith and helps a believer walk more closely with the Lord is edification.
