Every Eye Shall See Him

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”— Revelation 1:7–8 (KJV)

The Certainty of His Coming

The return of Jesus Christ is not speculation—it is divine certainty. The same Jesus who ascended into heaven will return in like manner (Acts 1:11). Revelation 1:7–8 declares this truth in unmistakable language: “Behold, He cometh with clouds.” This is not a secret event, not symbolic or hidden from view. It will be a visible, global revelation of the King of kings and Lord of lords.

The clouds that accompany His return symbolize His divine majesty and glory. In Scripture, clouds often mark the presence of God—He led Israel by a pillar of cloud, appeared on Mount Sinai in a cloud, and ascended from the Mount of Olives in a cloud. When Christ returns, He will come again “in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30).

Every Eye Shall See Him

The Word of God leaves no room for misunderstanding: “Every eye shall see Him.” This includes both believer and unbeliever, righteous and unrighteous, powerful and powerless. No nation will escape this revelation.

Even those who “pierced Him”—those responsible for His crucifixion and all who reject Him in every generation—will behold His glory. The rejection of Christ will no longer be hidden behind human pride or disbelief. The risen, glorified Son of God will appear in power, and all the world will know that He is Lord.

For the redeemed, His coming will be a moment of unspeakable joy—our faith made sight, our hope fulfilled. But for the unrepentant, it will be a moment of terror and mourning. Revelation says “all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him.” The nations that rejected His rule will mourn the day they turned away from His grace. It will be too late for repentance; the day of salvation will have passed.

The Alpha and the Omega

Christ identifies Himself as “Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.” These titles reveal His eternal nature. He is the source and the consummation of all things. History begins and ends with Him. He is not a bystander to the flow of time—He governs it.

When He declares, “I am… the Almighty,” He establishes His authority beyond all human power or understanding. He is the One “which is, and which was, and which is to come”—eternally present, unchanging, and supreme. The world may deny Him, but it cannot dethrone Him. His Word stands forever.

A Comfort and a Call

For the believer, this revelation is our great hope. The return of Christ assures us that righteousness will prevail, that every wrong will be made right, and that we will see our Lord face to face. It is the fulfillment of every promise made by God throughout the ages.

But for those who reject Him, this passage is a solemn warning. His coming will not offer another opportunity for repentance—it will bring judgment. The time to bow before Him is now.

Therefore, we must live watchfully, walk faithfully, and proclaim His coming boldly. The signs of His return grow clearer with every passing day. The command remains the same: “Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” (Matthew 24:44).

Conclusion

The trumpet will sound, the heavens will open, and the Lord Jesus Christ will return in power and glory. Every eye shall see Him. Every tongue will confess that He is Lord.

Let this truth awaken our hearts to holy living and steadfast hope. The clouds are gathering, the time is near.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Amen.
